VOLUNTEERS

We need your help...

We require hands on trail lovers who are keen to volunteer at MaxiRace 2024.

THU 26 - SAT 28 SEPTEMBER 2024,

BETWEEN FRANSCHHOEK & STELLENBOSCH

Why Volunteer?

You are the type of person that loves the Trail Running Community!

You like to be hands on and help. You enjoy creating a great event environment for others more than you would taking part yourself.

But most of all, you like to work hard for what is sometimes hours on end just for the pleasure of it.

You do, however, get to spend time outside and experience one of the top events in SA form the inside.

If a 'Thank you very much', a 50% entry discount for MaxiRace 2025 and a Maxi Event Shirt is worth your time, please read on...

What will you be doing and who are we looking for?*

*Detailed times will be provided when teams are finalised

Registration Team

We require volunteers that enjoy face-to-face contact that can assist runners with their race registration and race pack collection.

Volunteers will be required to help at our Canal Walk Registration on Thursday 26 September and/or our Registrations at Laerskool Stellenbosch on Friday 27 September and/or Saturday 28 September.

We also need volunteers who are available to help pack Goodie Bags from Wednesday 25 September and on Registration days.

Route Marking Team

You want to be outside and enjoy roughing it. This is tough work and long hours and you will be required to cover distances up to 10km carrying a hammer, markers boards and tags.

It is hugely satisfying though, as you will spend all your time in the mountains and on the route.

Your job is the very important as you will ensure our runners don't get lost. Maxi prides itself on its route marking; our route marker slogan is 'I'm marking the route as if for my grandma to follow'...

Route / Mountain Marshals

Once again, this is a very important job and it is taxing. It's for the tough adventurers.

You can do this job in part with route marking as you will know the route well.

Your job is ensuring runners pass through safely, get over the mountains and, in some cases, cross the rivers safely.

You will be outside form early to late. If this sounds like a dream to you...then we need you!

Pre-Runners

Pre-running is for the faster runners! You know how to read a route GPX and have followed a race route before.

You will run with some extra tags and a radio and ensure all markers are still in place and fix any last minute route issues.

Starting on the morning of the race (up to 90minutes before the field!) and make sure that marking is clear and the trail is safe.

You won't be expected to do the full route if pre-running the longer distances, but only a section of the route.

Sweepers

You don't mind taking your time on the run.

Your job is to follow the back markers and clean the route, collect markers and motivate the back of the pack.

This is more of a diesel powered hike than a run, but you will get to cover the route and finish when the beers are flowing.

START / FINISH Line Team

Medals, Coke, Water and high Fives...that's your job.

Do it with excitement and enthusiasm and you're on the team.

We need people that are sharp and can think on their feet. You will be front and centre in the buzz of the Race Village.

Aid Station Staff

We are specifically looking for running clubs and groups that want to manage aid stations as a team.

Your role is to ensure runners arrive to a well-organised aid station, with inviting tales filled with food and drink.

You will also bring the 'gees' and be responsible for runners leaving for their next leg of the race with vigour and motivation.

General Race Village / Hospitality Team

We always need friendly faces that can help people find their way or ensure everything stays in place.

You will drive the race village experience and make sure people talk about Maxi for months after the event.

Consider yourselves Race Village 'Chaperones', always ready to help with whatever is required, especially event attendees.
